In a series of interviews of local Eastern Shore residents in 1983, Salisbury University students and teachers collected folk life material. For this project, Mike McConKey collected some legends related to traveling. His paper includes a version of "The Vanishing Hitchhicker" and the personal story of one of his friend attending Salisbury State College who was attacked by to men who tried to rape her while she was driving home.
